Tour Description
The day starts with a historical walking tour of the city centre. Explore the cobbled stone
Praca Don Pedro IV popularly known as the Rossio with its fountains,
fashionable bars, cafés and restaurants then onto the Alfama the old city
quarter with its steep narrow walkways and market traders selling fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. There's a break for lunch for you to enjoy a typical Portuguese meal.
In the afternoon the tour makes it way to Fatima
and the shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Your guide will take you to the
Basilica to see the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco Marto, the Chapel of
Apparitions and the small hamlet of Aljustrel famous for
being the stage for some of the events that occurred during the Miracle of
Fatima stopping for a look at the houses where Lucia Santos, Jacinta and
Francisco Marto were born and grow up. The tour finishes at Valinhos the site where Our Lady appeared for
the fourth time on 19th August 1917 and Loco do Anjo where as
children Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco received their first and third visit from
the Angle of Peace in 1916.
